Mobile Infirmary Opens UAB Satellite Kidney Transplant Clinic
Mobile Infirmary is now the southern Alabama home for UAB Medicine’s monthly Kidney Transplant Clinic. The clinic, which opened November 12, 2018, is held in the Professional Office Building connected to Mobile Infirmary’s main hospital at 3 Mobile Infirmary Circle. The newly renovated space has three exam rooms, triage space, substantial workspace, and dedicated registration and waiting space. Parking is free in the adjacent parking deck.
Infirmary Health and the UAB Health System launched an affiliation that will lead to many advancements in the care of patients across southwest Alabama. “We are excited about the opening of the transplant clinic, which will enable patients who have received transplants at UAB the opportunity to receive follow-up care at the Mobile Infirmary clinic, reducing their number of trips to Birmingham,” says Joe Stough, Mobile Infirmary President and Infirmary Health EVP/Chief Operating Officer.
Clifton Kew, M.D., medical director of UAB’s Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program, will be one of the nephrologists providing care at the clinic.
“We are excited to bring this type of world class, specialized care to the people of Mobile, Baldwin and other south Alabama, Mississippi and Florida panhandle counties,” Kew said. “We believe this clinic will ease the burden of our travel for many of our transplant patients from this region and, in turn, improve their quality of life.”
